The Turner Capital Dual-Direction Trading Methodology

Capitalizing the the truth of the Market

Those who have knowledge do not predict. Those who predict do not have knowledge.” Lao Tzu

Turner Capital Investments, LLC is a Registered Investment Advisor that focuses exclusively on money management of our proprietary portfolio models. We are not financial planners.

Forecasting the future of a stock, an industry, a sector, the economy, and indexes is a multi-billion dollar enterprise.  Unfortunately, all of that work and all the money individuals, companies and institutions spend on those efforts result in nothing more than a guess.  Sometimes they are right and more times than not, they are wrong.  All of that effort is actually less accurate than a flip of the coin in most instances.

While most of the stock market investing world pays enormous sums of money on guessing what the market is going to do this afternoon, or tomorrow or this week or in the next quarter or the next year or… we categorically do not!

The Turner Capital Total Market Index (TMI) Chart

The chart, left, is the "Turner Capital Total Market Index" (TMI) and is one of our primary indicators of whether to have a bullish, bearish or neutral investment bias. The black line is an unequally weighted composite index of the S&P 500, the NASDAQ, the Russell 2000 and the DJIA. When the total market (black line) is above the 40-wma and trending higher, the market is considered bullish.  When the market is below the 40-wma and trending lower, the market is considered bearish.  And when the 40-wma is flat, risk is highest and the market is considered to be "in transition".

We use this chart as a surrogate to make all of our investment decisions. For example, if our Total Market Index Rules trigger an exit on the TMI Chart, we will then execute trades in all of our TMI models simultaneously so that all of our clients in each model receive the same share price.

* IMPORTANT: The Turner Capital R&D team used historical data of the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, Russell 2000 and the DJIA to test the efficacy of the trading and timing rules of the TMI methodology. This was a rigorous process where the rules were run totally independent of human adjustments or interactions. None of the rules were date dependent. The back-testing computer software executed the buys and sells based solely on the TMI Methodology. Live trading with actual client capital began on April 1, 2023.
